Chloe Felton and Andrew Sturt crowned NSSA Inland Champions

The National Schools Sailing Association held their Inland Championships at Draycote Water on 27th and 28th May. Both Felton sailors took part, Jacob in his Optimist and Chloe in a 420.

Saturday turned about to be windier, gustier and not as warm as the forecast. This caught Jacob out, who ended up with a DNF (did not finish) in race 1 after his boat filled with water. Unusually for many junior/youth events, they came ashore for lunch which allowed him to adjust his boat setup. He then showed what he could do, coming 2nd and 4th in the afternoon races. Chloe, however, won all 3 races despite having never sailed with her crew Andrew Sturt before.

After having gusts registering in excess of 30knots on Saturday, Sunday was completely the opposite. The sun shone and the wind was basically non-existent. Despite launching in a little breeze, it had dropped by the time they reached the start line. Eventually they were sent to shore for an early lunch in the hope of the breeze increasing but sadly it didn't fill in and they abandoned racing, the results staying the same as at the end of Saturday. Chloe and Andrew were crowned NSSA Inland Champions, handicap fleet.
