Congratulations – 5th placed SHSC sailors!

Congratulations to our team of sailors who took part in the 52nd West Lancashire Yacht Club 24 hour race last weekend. With a club best finish of 5th place – well done team Staunton!

Staunton were also third fastest in the 8:00 p.m. race and second fastest in the midnight race!

The team included: Nigel Pepperdine, Pete Gray, Richard Pepperdine, Sam Jones, Rachael Rhodes, together with Sam Pascoe and Lawrence Creaser.

Heralded as the U.K.s no. 1 dinghy endurance race,  the race took place at Marine Lake, Southport. Racing is continuous for 24 Hours even in extreme weather conditions. This year 77 boats, from four different classes – GP14, Lark, Enterprise and Firefly, took part. Over 50 sailing clubs, associations, and Universities competed to make this an incredibly competitive marathon race.

Well done to eight time winners South Staffs SC 

The overall winners of the race were South Staffs Sailing Club – winning for the 6th year in a row, and eight times overall! 

The 53rd race WLYC 24 hour race will be held over the weekend of 14th and 15th September 2019 – mark the date in your diary.
