It is important that all persons instructing, coaching or closely involved in the supervision of young people should feel informed as regards safeguarding best practice. Information is available on the RYA website and regular workshops are available. We have adopted a child protection policy in line with RYA guidance.
Those working independently and those leading sessions for young people under 18 should complete a DBS check in line with RYA guidance. This may include under 18s in this role. All instructors and those working with young people should be familiar with our child safeguarding policy
Forms can be obtained from the Child Welfare Officer and the DBS check will be undertaken free of charge for those volunteering their services at the Club.
Unfortunately at present DBS checks obtained elsewhere are not transferable to this role. However if you undertake a check, please register online within 2 weeks. This allows the child welfare officer to check for any changes in the future.
A copy of the SHSC Child Safeguarding Policy is available from our welfare officer and training officer. firstname.lastname@example.org
