As a member-run club we rely on everyone helping by volunteering to do duties
We are lucky to have such a successful and active club. Being a members’ club, this success depends on everyone volunteering their help whenever possible. In order to provide safe and efficient racing and cruising up to 5 days a week in the summer months the Club operates a duty roster.
Every sailing member 16 or over is required to do 3 equivalent duties per year as a minimum (Please note that evening duties count as half a duty) If you are a sailing member over 65 and/or feel unable to do a duty please contact the secretary. Non-sailing members often volunteer duties and some sailing members offer extra help on top of their 3 duties which we are very grateful for. Those regular racing members may be asked to do a 4th duty if necessary and your support is appreciated. SUP only members over 16 are required to do one duty per year.
We need help with Race Management, Safety boat duties and shore-based Galley duties.

Having connected to DutyMan you need to log on using the username and password already supplied. If you can’t remember just follow the instructions. Having logged on you will see down the right hand side of the screen a list of tabs. Use these to either confirm duties already signed up to, volunteer for new duties, request a swap or print your duty dates.
To see duty gaps either select through month/day or click on LIST VIEW. This will display the whole year showing gaps and who has already chosen a duty

It is your responsibility as a member to remember when your duties are and arrange a swap if you are unable to do your duty. The member seeking to exchange a duty has the responsibility for the duty until the exchange is arranged and confirmed by the Duty Team . If you don’t turn up racing may not be able to take place.
All duties start 1 hour before racing commences or before cruising is scheduled to commence.
If you have signed up for duties, these will be confirmed by the Duty Team. If you don’t sign up then you will be allocated one of the remaining duties and notified by the Duty Team.
It is your responsibility as a member to arrange a swap if you are unable to do you duty. The member seeking to exchange a duty has the responsibility for the duty until the exchange is arranged & confirmed by the Duty Team..
There are several ways you can arrange a swap…
Dutyman – Online duty rota. This is an internet-based copy of the Club’s duty rota which allows members to contact others doing similar duties to request a swap. It is simple to use and probably the most efficient method of swapping.
Another way is to ask other members when at the Club or write a request on the blackboard in the Clubhouse. When you have successfully arranged a swap email the Duty Team duty@shsc.org.uk or contact George Crammond
Also if you arranged the swap within a month of the duty date then contact the OOD to inform him of the change.
