Staunton at the Melbourne Village Carnival

Simulating sailing on land at the Melbourne Village Carnival

A huge thank you to our team of volunteers and everyone who joined us at the Melbourne Village Carnival on the 13th July.

What a day, the carnival was buzzing, the theme was ‘Under the Sea’ and Staunton sailors – Nick, Stuart, Luke, Amanda, Thorsten, Rachael, Herb, Finn, Rosie, Jenny, Ben and Louis – did a superb job of showcasing sailing and the club.

Thanks to RYA Midlands we had a visual feast, with the sailing simulator, a fusion dinghy. Set up so that young sailors can be put through their paces. The simulator makes it easy to go through land drills, tacking and gybing and giving would-be sailors an on-land taste of sailing without getting their feet wet! Over 50 locals had a go on the simulator and our team were on hand to talk sailing at all levels.

Thank you to the Melbourne team headed up by Sarah, who made sure everything was ship, shape.
