Staunton sails into British Summer Time

This weekend saw the clocks spring forward and thankfully there was no snow to prevent us from running a full weekend of sailing!

Saturday series

Our Saturday afternoon series kicked off with two races.  Comet sailor, Nigel Fern, went straight to the top of the leader board with two firts. For a full list of results please go to the members section of the website.

Sunday course and Sailability working party

Then on the Sunday, the clocks went forward, and the club saw a full house. The previously postponed  Advanced Instructor course enjoyed a packed day both on and off the water. Well done to all the students who successfully completed the course. Thank you also to our instructors. Sailability supporters were also at the club for a working party as they prepared their fleet for the sailing season. Again, thank you to everyone who joined us.

Sunday sailing series

Lots of sunshine and just about enough wind, made for some interesting racing. Very patchy wind left some sailors dead in the water, whilst others seemed to have the wind on their side. In the morning series Tim Gray cemented his top spot with another first. The afternoon series, however, saw a few changes in the top spots. Nigel and Di Pepperdine moved into first for the Fast Handicap Fleet.  John Blundell is now first in the Laser Fleet and Tim Gray retained his top spot in the Slow Handicap. Here’s to next weekend’s racing and fingers crossed the weather forecast is wrong!
