And we’re off – Sunday club racing

Mothering Sunday saw Staunton, kick off club racing, with the first races for both the 2018 Sunday series.

Sunday Spring Morning Series …

Congratulations to Tim Gray (Solo), who took first place, in Sunday’s Spring Morning Series.  Rachael Rhodes and Rich Pepperdine (Scorpion), finished second whilst Alan Bennett (Comet) came in third. Nathan Smith (Laser Radial) was the highest placed junior, finishing fourth. Of the 12 boats taking part in the morning race, only two were in the same class the Solo’s of Tim Gray and Nick Threadgill. RS400, RS200 and RS100’s were all out on the water, as was a Comet, Fireball, GP14, Laser and a 2000.

Sunday Afternoon Series …

20 boats took to the water for the two races in the afternoon series. The Fast Fleet had great representation across the fleets with the pairing of Rachael Rhodes and Rich Pepperdine (Scorpion) taking a second and a first to finish first overall, closely followed by Corey Newton (Supernova) who had a first and a second – finishing second overall. Nigel and Di Pepperdine (RS200) with a third in both races came third overall.

Within the Laser Fleet Paul Williamson took first, with Nathan Smith  (Radial) second and Mike Jones came in third. Whilst in the Slow Fleet Dee Fleming (Mirror) and Tim Gray (Solo) both finished with one point, with Dee coming first and Tim, second. Meanwhile, Alan Bennett (Comet) came in third.
