SHSC – 9th, 13th and 25th at Fireball World Champs!
Congratulations to our Staunton sailors who represented the club at the Fireball World Champs. The event, which took place at Carnac YC (France) from 25th – 31st August, saw Staunton scoop 9th, 13th and 25th overall. Richard Pepperdine crewing for David Wade took the top spot for the club with 9th overall. The highest results for the duo were impressive 4th, 5th and two 6th place finishes. Simon Forbes with Paul Cullen, hot on the heels of their 7th place finish in the French Fireball National Champs finished 13th overall. Their top scores included a 7th, 8th and 9th. Tim Saunders and Sam Mettam finished 25th overall with top scores of 6th, 12th and 14th. Way to go Staunton!
A fleet of 101 boats representing eleven different countries, took part in this spectacular event. Congratulations go to Matt Burge / Dan Schieberthe Penny /Russ Clark and Tom Gillard/ Geoff Edwards who came first, second and third overall.
Don’t forget to put the 27th/28th October in your diaries when we will be hosting the closing race of the 2018 Gul Golden Dolphin Series. This will also be the final race of the 2018 Fireball summer season.
