It is important that all persons instructing, coaching or closely involved in the supervision of vulnerable adults should feel informed as regards safeguarding best practice. Information is available on the RYA website and regular workshops are available. We have adopted a vulnerable adult protection policy in line with RYA guidance.
Those working independently and those leading sessions for vulnerable adults may be asked to complete a DBS check in line with RYA guidance. This may include under 18s in this role. All instructors and those working with vulnerable adults should be familiar with our safeguarding policy and code of conduct plus complete a self declaration.
Forms can be obtained from the Child Welfare Officer, Lesley Foskett. A DBS check will be undertaken free of charge for those volunteering their services at the Club. If you undertake a check, please register online within 2 weeks. This allows the child welfare officer to check for any changes in the future.
A copy of the SHSC/SHST Adult Safeguarding Policy is available below and from our welfare officer and training officer. training@shsc.org.uk
