At Staunton Harold Sailing Club, adult training courses are designed with the complete beginner in mind and make an ideal introduction to the world of dinghy sailing. We teach Levels 1 & 2 of the RYA National Sailing Scheme in an interesting and enjoyable programme of theoretical and practical instruction. On completion of the course, the successful sailor will be safety conscious, have a basic knowledge of sailing and be capable of sailing without instruction in light winds.
You will be taught primarily in single handed picos  dinghies ideally suited for training. There may also be opportunity to try double handed sailing
Towards the end of every course we try to incorporate a ‘try a boat’ session during which you may be introduced to other classes of dinghy. We also offer adult improver training sessions to continue your progression.
Buoyancy aids, wet suits and spray tops are provided. Sensible ‘old’ clothes, including closed-toe footwear, should be worn while sailing, bearing in mind the possibilities for getting wet. A change of clothing and a towel is essential!
Successful completion of the Level 1 or Level 2 certificate also allows club members to hire the club boats.
Our second course runs over 4 days. This course is sailed in double handers.-7th 8th 14th and 21st Sept 9-5 You should attend all 4 sessions.
