Adult Training
Learn to sail at Staunton Harold Sailing Club
At Staunton Harold Sailing Club, our adult training courses are designed with the complete beginner in mind and make an ideal introduction to the world of dinghy sailing. Many of our current club members started sailing on a training course here.
As an RYA Approved Training Centre, we teach Levels 1 & 2 of the RYA National Sailing Scheme in a supportive environment, with practical and theory elements delivered by our team of experienced instructors. On completion of the course, the successful sailor will be safety conscious, have a basic knowledge of sailing and be capable of sailing without instruction in light winds. The course is open to both club members and non-members
What will I be doing and what do I need to bring?
Our double-handed sailing courses are taught in RS Visions large, stable double-handed dinghies that are ideally suited to training. Towards the end of every course we try to incorporate a 'try a boat' session during which you may be introduced to other classes of dinghy, including single handed boats such as the Laser Pico and Topper.
We provide buoyancy aids, wetsuits and spray tops to keep you safe and warm.
Sensible 'old' clothes, including closed-toe footwear, should be worn while sailing, bearing in mind the possibilities for getting wet. A change of clothing and a towel is essential!
Successful completion of the Level 2 certificate also allows club members to hire club boats. We have a number of single and double-handed boats available to hire by the day as well as an 'annual hire' option. This means there is no need to rush out and buy a boat to continue sailing post course.
After each course we also offer Adult Improver (Rookie Club) sessions to help consolidate your new-found skills, helping you progress and build your confidence even further.
- The course fee is £240 plus 4 months club membership (for non-members) at £17.12 per month total £308.48
