Events and Activities
In 2024, together with the National Trust, we organised a Bio Blits surveying the wildlife, insects etc around the reservoir. In October we ran a bat watch event for members which was very popular.
2025 Activities
Spring
- Our first event will a birds and biodiversity talk. Tony Davison will give an illustrated talk on the birds of the reservoir. Tony is a well-known local ornithologist and renowned photographer who visits Staunton Harold reservoir regularly to photograph and record bird numbers. He knows several Club members and was involved in the successful BioBlitz at the Club last year. His website is https://www.simplybirdsandmoths.co.uk/sbam/
- Vicky Naylor who is Lead Ranger on the Calke NT property will then give an overview of the wide range of biodiversity to be found on the site and how the National Trust helps to manage and support this.
- Date to be confirmed
Summer
- The National Trust will be running another bio-blitz type activity which we will support with trips around the lake etc. as last year. To take place around the end of May.
Autumn
