New Race Timer App - Dinghy Sailing Race Control (DSRC)

Our trusty race timer has failed and is beyond repair. So, after a number of trials we are now using the app -  DSRC. It's simple to use, has a host of intuitive functions and aims to reduce the workload for our OODs/ AODs - the heroes who do the club's race results!

Some of the features we think you will enjoy include:-

• Portability - We've set the DSRC app up, on a 12" android tablet (which is in a waterproof case). The tablet comes complete with a leash and mounting bracket enabling easy use on the Committee Boat. 
• Races are easy to set up with all of our sailors/ boats pre-loaded - just need to select whose racing on the day. (Plus it's easy to add new sailors/ boats).
• Press start gives you a 10 sec lead-in to a 6,3,GO start sequence Bluetoothed to the Committee Boat horn together with an audio/ visual countdown with visuals of flags to go up (or down) make starting simple.
• Recording boats lap times is done with a simple tap (the app will then sequence the boats showing colour coded laps and times).
• Likewise finishing the race is easy - on the final lap select 'Finish Open' then 'Shorten Race',- the Bluetoothed horn will sound 2 hoots, and as each competitor crosses the line, all you have to do is tap the app to record each boat's finish.
• Once all racers have finished simply click 'End Race', and then 'Results' and the app will automatically give you a set of printable results. Click 'share' and send these to the printer so that they are on the race box printer, waiting for you to post in the clubhouse.
• Then, to get ready for the next race just click 'Reset' to prepare the same list of competitors for the next race. 

After use the tablet MUST be left plugged in, in the race box - ready for the next OOD.
