It was 'Champagne Sailing' for our second Sunday of club racing/ SUP/ cruising at Staunton Harold Sailing Club!

Sunscreen, sunhats, sunglasses and smiles were all on show. The mercury hit 20 degrees, and the forecast was for a base wind of 9 knots with gusts of up to 13 knots.
The morning race saw 19 boats on the water. This included 5 youth sailors who were enjoying race coaching as they went round the F, D, 12, 6, 4, G course.
Nigel & Di (RS200) took 1st place, Rachael (Streaker) 2nd, and Darren & Chris (RS200) 3rd.
A break for lunch saw sailors/ SUP'ers topping up their sunscreen and tucking into a superb galley lunch - thank you to Chris/ Yvonne.
The afternoon saw Rachael (Streaker) with bullets in both races. She had an outstanding time on the water beating many fast fleet boats on the water and even managing a 'stunt capsize' in one race. Rachael wasn't the only sailor to capsize - no names you all know who you are!.
32 sailors took part in this Race 1, of the afternoon, including the youth racers. This ensured a competitive start-line, interesting mark roundings and a huge amount of competition throughout the fleet.
A mention needs to be made of the dead tie between two RS400's in this race. And, the use of racing rules which saw one RS200 successfully race another RS200 off the finish line to clinch a higher place in the results.
The final race of the day was a fantastic windward/leeward course C,9, taking in almost the entire length of the reservoir - a perfect way to wrap up a great day on the water!
