Huge Congratulations to Sam Jones and the Jetpack Crew!

Most of you will have seen Sam Jones around the club — either zipping across the water on a windsurf when the wind is up, or helming an RS400 at the front of the racing. For the past couple of weeks, however, he switched out reservoir sailing for yacht racing on the sea, as he took part in one of offshore sailings ultimate challenges: the RORC Round Britain and Ireland Race - 2026 marks the 50th anniversary of this race!
If you have been checking in with us on Facebook you will have seen that we have been cheering on Sam, and the rest of the Jetpack team - Mark Brown (owner and skipper), Chris Philby-Roberts and Mark Stevens - as they set off from Cowes and made their way around Britain and Ireland, until they made it back over the finish line just over 12 days later to finish 1st place in IRC Three and 11th overall!
What a result! The team were the leading IRC Three for much of the race as they competed against thirty two boats overall and 182 sailors from five continents, to complete the 1,805 nautical mile race.
Huge congratulations to Sam, Mark, Chris and Mark from everyone at the club. What an adventure and what a result!
