Staunton's Craig Williamson, takes second place overall in New Year's Day Event

Published 00:00 on 3 Jan 2025

Congratulations to our very own Craig Williamson (RSAero) who took second spot overall in Notts County Sailing Club's First of the Year event, which was held on New Year's Day. Craig was pipped to first place by the Fireball of home sailors Kevin Hope and Andy Stewart, who beat him by half a point over two races.

In third place was Nigel Potter (Notts County) and Gerry Hannabuss in a Scorpion, then Sam Cox from Chase in a Phantom, Joe Scurrah from Notts County in an Aero, followed by Jamie Mawson in RS600 from Notts County then Jeremy Arnold and John Allen from Notts County in a Flying 15. Only 7.5 points separated the top 7. To see the full race results please click here. And to read the full Notts County race report please click here.

Look out for the Notts County Cooler coming up on 25/26 January, the first weekend of racing in the four part Midlands Inter Club Series. The Midlands Inter Club Series comprises four weekends at four venues - Notts County S.C., Burton S.C., our very own Staunton Harold S.C. and Ogston S.C. free to all 2025 paid up members of participating clubs and open to other sailors at a cost (see NOR's for details).
